Lititz, PA – The purpose of the grouting program was to mitigate future sinkhole activity and improve subsoils for foundation support for the proposed Landis Home Community Learning and Wellness Center. The proposed construction consisted of a 3-story structure with a full basement. Based on the results of the test borings, air-track probes, and the geology, the project site was and is, considered to be within an active sinkhole prone area. We are very familiar with this area and its terrain. The probability of sinkhole development was confirmed by the discovery of soft (weight of hammer) soils and variable RQD (rock quality) of the limestone bedrock.
We employed 1 drill and 2 grout crews and completed this project injecting 505 cubic yards of grout into 288 grout locations.
