Listed below are descriptions of some of the projects that CGS has completed.
Main
Street at Exton, Foundation Pre-Treatment, Exton,
PA |
| Compaction Grouting Services, Inc. (CGS) pre-treated
foundation areas in 11 retail stores located in limestone
geology on a lump sum basis. Each retail store was
completed on schedule or ahead of schedule. Zero days
were lost due to weather conditions. During the project,
almost 3000 cubic yards of compaction grout was injected
in about 600 grout injection locations. The rock surface
was encountered deeper than 100 feet in some locations.
We were the only contractor to originally provide
a lump sum cost on this project. |
King
of Prussia Mall, Sinkhole Repair, King of Prussia,
PA |
| Compaction Grouting Services, Inc. (CGS) stabilized
a sinkhole that opened up adjacent to an underground
post tension box culvert that ran below the mall parking
lot. Due to the severity of the problem, we worked
two shifts five to six days a week to complete the
project. We injected grout into the subsurface in
about 57 locations adjacent to and through the box
culvert. The pipes were installed to depths of up
to 90 feet. About 1,200 cubic yards of compaction
grout was injected to stabilize the area and re-level
the box culvert. We also provided our engineering
input throughout the project. |
PA
DOT North Gulf Road Sinkhole Repair, King of Prussia,
PA |
| CGS teamed up with Schnabel Foundation Company to
provide emergency sinkhole repair on North Gulf Road.
This area had a history of sinkholes and was repetitively
repaired. The state chose compaction grouting as the
ground modification technique that would repair the
sinkholes, reduce the risk of additional sinkhole
occurrence, stabilize the soils, lift the settled
Abrams Run Bridge and provide support for the bridge
foundation.
CGS worked the graveyard shift to minimize traffic
congestion (we were able to contain our working
area and it was only necessary to close one lane
of traffic) and get higher production by increasing
working hours. We were able to work through the
evenings because we batch our grout in our mobile
grout plant. PA DOT, Myers, Schnabel Engineering,
Schnabel Foundation, and CGS worked closely together
to provide an efficient and effective solution to
a chronic problem.
CGS injected about 400 cubic yards of low-slump,
low-mobility, compaction grout in about 30 holes.
We were able to lift the bridge back close to its
original elevation.

Crossings
II, Upper Macungie Township, PA |
Compaction Grouting Services, Inc. utilized compaction
grouting for ground modification prior to construction.
Injected over 640 cubic yards of grout over 162
locations. The grout was injected in column locations
and identified sinkhole locations.
